My computer kept hanging whenever I attempted to install Fedora 16 on my Dell M1730 XPS laptop. It would go as far as the graphic setup screen then freeze. Then I had to reboot and try a different method of installing Fedora. I finally pressed the escape key during the initial boot menu to get to the advanced options so that I could install with the minimal video graphics. I typed: “xdriver=vesa nomodeset” which allowed me to perform the install.

My keyboard on the XPS was busted so I took the keyboard from a broken Latitude D600 laptop and tweaked it a little bit so that it would fit. It is working fine and looks great.
